Youth Board

"We are an organized voice for the youth of our community helping young people make a positive impact by promoting the objectives of United Way Fox Cities and creating a spirit of community service."

United Way Fox Cities Youth Board

The Youth Board is responsible for awarding grants to youth-oriented programs in the Fox Cities.  Youth Board Members are students from high schools in the United Way Fox Cities service area. The Youth Board provides its members with opportunities to increase their involvement, knowledge and understanding of the community investment process. Through guest speakers, involvement in service-learning projects and general discussions, Youth Board members explore issues affecting today's youth in our community.

How to Apply for Youth Board Grant Funding

Each year the United Way Fox Cities Youth Board reviews and evaluates submitted by area youth groups and youth-serving organizations. TO APPLY FOR FUNDING, DOWNLOAD THIS GRANT APPLICATION.  There is a Fall and a Spring funding cycle.  Deadlines are on Devember 1 and March 1, respectively.  It generally takes six weeks to process the requests, hear presentations and get UWFC Board approval.

Who Decides How the Money is Distributed?

The Youth Board members do! Once grant applications are submitted all applicants are requested to make a brief presentation to the Youth Board. These presentations take place at the regularly scheduled Youth Board meetings.

Youth Board members take into consideration the following factors for each program to arrive at the final funding recommendations:

  • Program and fiscal management
  • Program community impact
  • Need for the program.
  • Quality and accuracy of the application.
  • Program presentation.
  • Level of youth involvement in planning and implementation of the program.

Based on these criteria, Youth Board leaders present the funding recommendations to the United Way Fox Cities Board of Directors.  After the Board of Directors approves the recommendations, applicants are notified and grants distributed.
