TS2005 (Teen Symposium 2005) brings together committed ninth graders and concerned adults in an effort to build better communities through volunteerism. Outcomes include the development of action plans that can impact schools, agencies, and the community at large.
Ninth graders will see presentations on developmental asset and attend breakouts given by other students who have implemented successful projects. TS2005 will energize and motivate the ninth graders to create their own community building action plans.
Our facilitator, Kathy Franklin (Senior Organizational Development Specialist for ThedaCare), will step the students through a formalized and structured planning session to ensure that concise and organized action plans will result. Evaluation will include a follow up of the plans to asess their community impacts.
Success depends on Youth/Adult Partnerships. One adult is required for every nine students. These adults are generally school personnel but schools are encouraged to include other adult volunteers.
